NORTH LEWISBURG – Robert Mearl "Bob" Crowder, 76, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, service, laughter, and devotion to family.
Bob was born on July 22, 1949 to Mearl and Virginia Crowder. A proud graduate of Triad High School and The Ohio State University, Bob carried his Buckeye pride throughout his life. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, Air Force, and Navy National Guard, traveling across North America during his years of service.
A man driven by a deep desire to help others and a belief in the importance of feeding the world, Bob worked hard his entire life. He dedicated more than six decades to raising and showing pigs, served as a 4-H advisor for 20 years, and coached baseball for 20 years, impacting countless young lives through mentorship, patience, and encouragement. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play ball.
Bob was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and unwavering generosity. He loved hunting mushrooms, starting a good fire, enjoying a Frosty from Wendy's, and cheering on the Buckeyes. Above all else, he cherished time with his family and friends. He was a loving father, a wonderful husband, a devoted grandfather, and a loyal friend. Men like Bob are hard to come by, and he will be deeply and forever missed.
Bob is reunited in heaven with his parents, Mearl and Virginia Crowder, and his sister, Cheryl.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri (Westfall) Crowder; his children, John (Shannon) Crowder and Emily (Jim) Compton; his brother, Mark (Susan) Crowder; his cherished grandchildren, Chase, Kipton, Kolbie, Avery, Ava, and Emma; 4 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews.
Bob's legacy of love, hard work, and kindness will live on through all who knew him.

Bob and I were in the Air Guard together back in the 70s. We were assigned to take a hornets nest down on an airplane hanger. What a story that was. That was in Alaska. We had some great times. Great guy.

Sherri,
So sorry for your loss. Bob was such good friend in our early days of high school. I had a car and license and Bob had conversation and connections. Remember I went to pick I´m up and he came out with a cast on his hand. I ask what happened and he said `the cow wouldn´t move so I punched it and broke my hand on one of the cow´s ribs. Guess you could say the cow won.´ That was Bob.
Take care Sherri.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's death. Such news from home is difficult sometimes to bear down here in Florida. My prayers and best wishes go out to Bob's extended family and his many, many friends. He will be missed by so many folks who knew him for the good man he was.
