ROBERT CURLEY Obituary

CURLEY, Robert A. Jr. "Bob" Of Hingham, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, on September 10, 2025. He was 76 years old. Beloved son of Robert A. Curley, Sr. And Terese O'Hara Curley. Cherished husband to Kathleen Curley of Hingham. Loving father to Dr. Christine Skiadas MD and her husband, Nicholas of Lancaster, PA, Elizabeth Summers and her husband, Craig of Hingham and Margaret Nash and her husband, Thomas of Hingham. Devoted "Da" to Claire Summers, Zoe Skiadas, Eleanor Summers, Lena Skiadas, Cooper Summers, Lillian Nash and Suzannah Nash. Brother of Beth Curley and her late husband, Tim Holt of West Hartford, CT, the late Frederick Curley MD and his surviving wife, Kathleen of Westboro, MA and Maryann O'Connell and her husband, Steven of Hingham. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bob's life was one dedicated to service of his family, friends, clients, colleagues and community. Originally from Dorchester ("OFD"), he attended St. Gregory's school, before matriculating to BC High and Harvard. He thrived in all of his academic environments and his love of learning stayed with him throughout his life. He was fortunate to marry his high school girlfriend, and love of his life, Kathy, in 1972. They went on to spend the next 53 years of married life together, growing their family and careers while fostering their commitment to each other and their beloved Hingham community. As a Hingham dad and grandfather for more than four decades, he took tremendous joy in watching his daughters and grandchildren enjoy the natural beauty of the south shore, whether through sailing adventures, walks in World's End or biking adventures in Wompatuck or Bare Cove Park. He also served his community through a variety of Hingham boards, including the Hingham Historical Commission, Community Preservation Committee, Advisory Committee and the Personnel Board. He was honored as Hinghamite of the Year in 2024 and was a fixture in the 2024 fourth of July parade, accompanied by his bride, children and grandchildren- an event he described as one of the best days of his life. Bob was also highly regarded as a "lawyer's lawyer" with the accolades to support his indelible mark on the legal community. After earning his J.D. from Cornell Law School, he joined his father at Curley & Curley, P.C., where he practiced law for 50 years. His role as an attorney provided a distinctive opportunity to combine his insatiable intellectual curiosity as well as his commitment to compassion. During his decades of practice, he consistently adopted a cooperative approach with his colleagues, opposing counsel, and members of the judiciary without sacrificing zealous advocacy for his clients. He was admitted as a fellow to the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2004, whose membership is limited to 1 percent of the total lawyer population of any state and reserved for exceptional trial lawyers, who have demonstrated the highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality. In 2024, he received the James N. Esdaile Jr. Civility Award from the American Board of Trial Advocates in recognition of his civility, professionalism and excellence throughout his legal career. He will be remembered fondly by all who were lucky enough to know him and who were privy to his sharp wit, joyful laughter, unfaltering kindness and devotion to his family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the Visiting Hours on Thursday, September 18, from 4-8 PM, in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH, at 809 Main Street (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham, at 10 AM, on Friday, September 19. A private Burial will be held, at a later date. Donations in Bob's name may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. See www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences.
