EDWARDS – Robert B. Curtis, age 86, of Edwards, passed away on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare, with his son, Reverend Reginald S. Curtis officiating. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.

Robert was born on January 17, 1940 in DeGrasse to the late Earl B. and Rosella V. (Shaw) Curtis. He attended the Silver Hill School in Russell and married Mary Ann Nettie Guiles on August 16, 1958 at the Edwards Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Curtis worked as a hoist operator for St. Joe Minerals Corp., operated his dairy farm in Edwards, and drove school bus for Edwards-Knox Central School.

Robert found great joy in hunting, blacksmithing at his forge, and crafting his own apple cider and eating ice cream, his favorite food. As a devoted and supportive husband to his wife, Mary Ann, he frequently joined her for horseback rides, sheepdog trials, and various other shared adventures. An avid traveler, Robert and his family explored a broad array of destinations including Bar Harbor, Southwest Missouri, Yellowstone, South Dakota, Canada, California, and West Virginia. He was driven by a lifelong passion for meeting people of every kind and experiencing the world.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Curtis and their three children, Suzanne (David) Jones, Robert I. Curtis, and Reginald S. (Pamela) Curtis, four sisters, Mabel Pryor, May Durham, Nellie Whitmarsh, and Pansy (Al) Hill. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sarah (Luke) Roberts, Zachary (Amanda) Curtis, Jerrica (Dan) Pinto, Steve Jones SO (Amy Moulton) and seven great grandchildren; and nieces, Connie (Tom) Daily and Stephanie (Mike) Webber.

Robert is predeceased by a son, Larry Joseph Curtis, his brothers, Pearl Curtis, Kenneth Curtis, and Edison Curtis, and his sisters Harriet Macel Curtis, Hazel Webb, and Violet Akin.
