Chester resident Robert (Bob) Pollock Dalby joined his wife in their eternal home Sunday afternoon, September 21st, 2014 at Seneca Health Care District Hospital following a valiant battle with leukemia. Born in Los Angeles, CA to the late George and Thelma (Alexander) Dalby on May 1, 1938, with his family, he traveled extensively in his youth. Robert is a 1956 graduate of Alameda High School in Alameda, CA. Following his graduation he moved to Southern California to work for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company. While residing there he was introduced to a pretty young lady named Theodora "Lugene" Hoefle through an aunt. As their love for one another blossomed the couple was married on July 10, 1960 in Grand Junction, Iowa. The newlyweds returned to Southern California settling in Camarillo, CA. and to this union two sons were born. Shortly thereafter Robert was drafted to the Military where he Honorably served his country as member of the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Following his discharge he returned to Camarillo working as a maintenance mechanic in the manufacturing industry. After twenty five years he retired. He and his wife and sons relocated from Camarillo to the Northeastern California lumber community of Chester in 1979. First and foremost a loving husband and parent, Robert will be remembered for his heart of gold, always there to lend a hand to those in need. A caregiver to family and neighbors on numerous occasions, he will be missed by all. A self taught auto mechanic who enjoyed antique cars as well as the thrill of NASCAR. He and his late wife enjoyed traveling together. Following her passing Bob enjoyed attending the Sunday breakfast at the Chester Community United Methodist Church, especially with his grandson Zachary. In passing Robert leaves his two sons: Daniel and Deron and his wife Maureen all of Chester, CA. The pride of his later life his grandchildren; Caitlin, Zachary and Zoie, a brother; Richard of San Francisco, CA and sister; Cheryl Dalby of Alturas, CA as well as his late wife's Aunt, Naomi Smith, not only a relative but a life long friend to Bob.
