I first met Bob Danzeisen at my baptism - he, a childhood friend of my Dad´s and later a co-conspirator on some ventures - was my Godfather.

So many memories. His original house at Sunset Lake in Almonesson (now Auletto´s) behind which he built a CLAY tennis court. The golf range on Route 41. The store, first a more general sporting goods store in Haddon Heights across from a new place called McDonalds, then later in a "chalet" specialty ski-golf-tennis-later hiking/camping down the street in Mt. Ephraim.

Besides baseball/football/basketball in the `hood, I learned to golf, ski, and play tennis - then taught my friends. If that weren´t enough for the ladies, I was a model at the annual fashion show, where everyone insisted I don the full face ski mask. I parlayed that into a Muscle Mag modeling gig where I was renowned under the pseudonym "Before".

I learned enough of biz to start a ski club at my high school, running the concessions to pay for trips. Was king of the upsellers - adding chili to hot dogs resulted in fat margins. First trip freshman year was a little trip to the Poconos. Later Vermont. By senior year, Austria. Year after, Colorado. Wow.

Amongst all that, I got to hobnob with the occasional celebrity who popped in. Plus, watch my Dad record the voiceovers for TV commercials that were played (you´re not gonna believe this) DURING THE SUPER BOWLS!

What a childhood! Thanks, Uncle Bob, for helping to make it happen.

Wow I'm kind of in shock. Marg please accept my condolences to you and your family. It doesn't seem like close to 50 years when I walked into D&Q and got a job. Those we're great years. Bob gave me a lot of advice which was valuable to me. He was a great guy. When D&Q closed an era was over.

Bob was my first boss in 1985 when I was 17 years old and he was a friend and mentor ever since. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers with Margaret and the rest of the family.

Margaret-please accept our sympathy for you and your son. We go back with Bob to the little store in the strip mall on White Horse Pike in Haddon Heights in the 60´s, even before the "Chalet" further up the street. They would not be really busy in those days and I I can remember coming in to buy something and we would spend the rest of the evening chatting. Bob gave me golf lessons in the late 60´s and I think of him every time I pick up a 5 iron. His advice was to "find out how far you can hit the 5 iron and adjust 10 yards either way accordingly". Life was simple then and as skiing became more popular the stores got very busy. We could not spend the evening chatting , but we always loved coming to the store and seeing the D & Q crew. Eventually, full circle our son, Todd, worked there. Thinking about you through this difficult time. Cathy & Hal Ruff
