Robert N Darby, 71, of Leavenworth, KS passed away August 9, 2025. Committal service will take place at 9am, Friday, August 22, 2025 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd. Leavenworth, KS.

Robert was born March 9, 1954 in Bristol, England. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was based in San Diego, California. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career as a car sales manager, working at several dealerships across Kansas, Missouri, and Arizona. A lifelong learner, Robert earned his bachelor's degree and enjoyed collecting unique treasures over the years. He had a deep passion for antiques and thrifting, always on the lookout for special finds.

Adopted at a young age, Robert cherished the moment in 2016 he received a letter from an English adoption service connecting him with his brother. That reunion soon led to the discovery of many other beloved family members. Family meant everything to him, especially his children and grandchildren. Known for his sharp wit and hilarious sense of humor, Robert had a way of making people laugh in any situation. His quick comebacks and lighthearted spirit made him unforgettable to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by: birth mother, Ann Moore; birth father, Ronnie Joe Brooks; adopted mother and father, Jean and JE Darby; brother, Richard Atkinson; sister, Dawn Perez; and aunt, Gillian Butcher.

Survivors include: daughters, Lauren Darby and Alexis Young; grandchildren, Mia and Kellan Vogeler and Winifred Young; brothers, Tony Frye and Michael Atkinson; sister-in-law, Shirley Atkinson; sister, Gail Weinketz; cousins, Jo Ann Collins and Sharon Cerecedes; niece, Jamie Le-Ann; and nephew, Clint Atkinson.
