Robert Lenious Davenport, born on February 3, 1938, in Abbeville, Louisiana, departed this world on April 8, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. His life was marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and community.
A proud member of the United States Coast Guard, Bobby served his country with distinction for 22 years. His gallant contributions during his time in service earned him the esteemed Coast Guard Combat Action Ribbon, a testament to his bravery and commitment. Bobby was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a devoted member of the VFW Post #4820 and the American Legion Post #493, where he found camaraderie among fellow veterans. In addition to his military service, he spent six years as a manager at Delta Security and dedicated ten years of his life to shaping the future of young minds as a teacher at the Stilwell Technical Center in Port Arthur.
Bobby was not only a professional but also an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for the Port Neches Groves Indians and the University of Texas Longhorns. His love for life extended to his cherished Ford Mustangs, which brought him much joy and excitement over the years.
Bobby's most profound pride stemmed from his unwavering faith and love for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His kind spirit and gentle approach inspired many, while his lifelong friendships with Garland Allison and Butch East highlighted his loyalty and devout nature.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, including his cherished wife, Sherrol Davenport; his son, Robert O. Davenport; his daughters, Deborah L. Berwick, Donna Davenport, and Danette Davenport Mangioni; his grandchildren, Chanda Breaux, Averie Mangioni, Andrew Mangioni, Devin Detommaso, and Alaina Del Rosa; as well as seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-children, Dewayne P. Rachal, Kevin Lane Rachal, and Mistie Dawn Rachal.
Bobby joins his former wife, Barbara Ann Davenport, and his parents, Bobby and Bella Mary Davenport, in eternal rest.
