John Marcelin Guidry, a devoted family man and respected Senior Piping Designer at R.D.S., passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife Judy, daughter Brandi, grandchildren, Olivia and Zachary on March 15, 2026, in Nederland, Texas. Born on February 24, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, John lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, his faith, and his community.

John’s professional career as a Senior Piping Designer at R.D.S. was distinguished by his expertise and commitment. His work earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike. Beyond his professional achievements, John was a proud member of the First Methodist Church of Nederland, Texas, where he found solace and spiritual strength throughout his life.

His early years were shaped by his service to his country. John honorably served one year in the Army and also fulfilled his duties in the Navy, reflecting a strong sense of patriotism and dedication. He was an active member of the Eagle Fraternity in Port Neches, Texas, and proudly participated in American Legion Post 4093, further demonstrating his lifelong commitment to service and camaraderie.

John’s life was deeply enriched by his family, who remember him with great affection. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Guidry of Nederland, Texas, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges. Their loving daughter, Brandi Hooge of Denham Spring, Louisiana, along with her children—John’s cherished grandchildren—Austin Hooge, Olivia Hooge, and Zachary Hooge, carry forward his legacy. John was also a proud great-grandfather to Gianna Hooge.

His family bonds extended to his sister-in-law Gaylynn Brown and her husband Scott; and to his brothers, Ray Guidry and Dickie Guidry. John's love and support were felt by his nephews, John Brown and his wife Jo Beth, and Josh Brown and his wife Sheris, as well as a special niece, Christi Murphy, and sister- in- law Tammy DeFonte whose care was invaluable during these last several months. The family circle was further expanded by great-nephews Chandler Lelancon and Austin Kahla.

John’s blended family was an integral part of his life. He is survived by his stepdaughters, Pam Kech and her husband David, Sheila Melancon and her husband Kevin, and Tara Barhalter. The step-grandchildren, Trisha Zelner and Sha Kmiec, along with numerous other step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, held a special place in his heart.

He also leaves behind a large extended family of brother-in-law, sister-in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who treasure his memory.

John was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Wilson Caesar Guidry and Edith Elenor (Lydet) Guidry. He was also predeceased by his brother, Put Guidry; sister, Janet Smith; brother-in-law, Jackie Smith; son-in-law, Phillip Hooge; and nephews, Damain Lawson and Briain Smith.

A visitation to honor John Marcelin Guidry will take place on April 11, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church Nederland, located at 104 N 13th St, Nederland, Texas, 77627. This will be followed immediately by funeral services from 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
