Ronald “Wayne” Guidry, was peacefully called home to the lord on Saturday March 7, 2026, at the age of 71, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing him.

Wayne was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on April 26, 1954. He was the kind of man whose presence made people feel at peace. He was humble, gentle, and full of love — the kind of love that asked for nothing in return but gave endlessly to others. If you knew Wayne, you knew a man who welcomed you with open arms and treated you like family, whether you had known him for years or had just met him.

Faith was the foundation of Wayne’s life. For many of his adult years, he was a devoted member of Throne of Grace Fellowship Church. Every morning began the same way — rising early at 5 a.m., sitting quietly with his coffee, praying his Rosary, and spending a few peaceful moments in reflection. Those simple, faithful routines revealed the kind of man he was: disciplined, devoted, and deeply connected to God. Not only did he speak loudly about his faith; he lived it every single day through his actions, his consistency, and the quiet strength of his devotion.

Music was another part of Wayne’s soul. As a proud member of The Unsung Zydeco Soldiers, he shared his gift with others for more than 25 years. Wayne was a true multi-instrumentalist, equally at home playing the accordion, guitar, bass, and drums. But for Wayne, music wasn’t about the spotlight — it was about fellowship. Sunday evenings after church were sacred to him, gathering with his bandmates, laughing, playing music, and sharing moments that became lifelong memories.

Wayne was also the definition of a hardworking man. At just 17 years old, he began his career at Citgo, where he faithfully dedicated 45 years of service before retiring. His work ethic was unmatched, but what truly set Wayne apart was the integrity with which he lived his life.

To Wayne, family meant everything. He believed family was not just about blood, but about love, loyalty, and standing beside one another through every season of life. He was a steady anchor for his loved ones — the one who reminded everyone to keep their faith, especially during life’s most difficult moments.

Of all the roles Wayne carried in his life, being a grandfather was the one that brought him the most joy. His grandchildren were his pride and his heart, and he loved them beyond words.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Derricka Guidry; his father August Sterling (Theresa); his children, Tiffani Guidry, Jarvin Guidry, and Derran Phillips (Augeisha); his beloved grandchildren, Andre Hagans, Justin Allen, Ayden Brown, Nyla Guidry, Javari Guidry, Shaylon Castillo, Ay’nia Mu’min-Guidry, Laiya Guidry, Jayden Guidry, AmiaNorman-Caston, Zarya Phillips, and Zaila Phillips; and his siblings Terry Guidry, GloriaKing, Tiwona Gayden (Ronald), Herman Guidry, Patricia Cardenas (Julian), Loretta Shephard(Dale), and Rosita Jenkins (Calvin)

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Belle Guidry; and his siblings Cynthia Auzenne, Lynnethier Stevens, Russell Guidry, Douglas Guidry, and Tony Guidry

Wayne lived a life of quiet greatness — a humble man, a peaceful soul, and a friend to all who crossed his path.

Though our hearts are broken by his absence, we find comfort knowing that his love, his faith, and the example he set will continue to live on through all of us — a host of family, friends, and relatives.

Rest peacefully, Wayne. You will forever be loved, remembered, and deeply missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:30am with a graveside service to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles from 8am-10:30am with a rosary at 10:30am.
