Robert Dean Davis Jr.
1941-2025
Salt Lake City, UT - Robert Dean Davis Jr (Bob). passed away on September 15, 2025, reuniting with his beloved parents, Robert Dean Davis, Sr. and Irma LaVelle Huebner.
Bob was born on June 11, 1941, at the base of the Kennecott Copper Mine in Copperton, Utah. An only child, affectionately called "Bobby" by his parents, he spent his early years with his mother while his father served in World War II. He loved his small-town roots and the lifelong friendships he built in Copperton and at Bingham High School, where he excelled in sports and academics.
He attended the University of Utah, becoming the first in his family to graduate college with a degree in accounting. On June 14, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Sue Stocking, and together they raised their family in Holladay, Utah. Bob went on to a 43-year career as a CPA, leading tax departments for several large firms before founding his own practice, Davis and Company. For over 25 years, he and his team provided trusted guidance to individuals and businesses. He especially cherished his years serving Wheeler Machinery and maintained a deep bond with Don and the "Wheeler girls." Even in retirement, Bob remained the go-to person for tricky tax questions, always ready to help - even if it meant answering a call in the middle of dinner or a round of golf.
Bob lived a life of faith and service as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings, including Bishop, Counselor, High Councilor, and Gospel Doctrine teacher.
Bob was a devoted Home Teacher and enjoyed the relationships he formed while serving others. His testimony of Jesus Christ was steadfast. Family was the center of Bob's life. Annual Sun Valley trips, weekends at the family cabin, Sunday dinners, and golf outings brought him his greatest joy. He was most proud of his grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to his life. He loved golfing with friends, listening to music, fly fishing in Yellowstone with his son, spending time with the family dogs, a clean car and freshly polished shoes.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue Stocking Davis; children, Jeffery Dean (JD) Davis and his wife, Debra Caruso, of Bozeman, MT, and Kristine Davis Cannon and her husband, Eric, of Holladay, UT. He was a much-loved "Pops" to Harmon Robert (Bobby) Cannon and his wife, Rachel Broderick, of Albuquerque, NM; William Eric Cannon and his wife, Natashia Barney, of St. George, UT; Jeffery Davis Cannon and his wife, Beka Haderlie, of Holladay, UT; Annie Jane Cannon and Mary Kristine Cannon of Holladay, UT. Bob also rejoiced in the arrival of his great-grandchildren: Bennett Sue, Dean, Brooke, and Ellie Sue Cannon.
The family expresses deep gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who reached out during Bob's final years, and to the compassionate staff at Spring Garden who helped him cross the finish line with kindness and dignity.
Bob will be remembered for his integrity, his faith, his sharp mind, and his deep devotion to family and friends. His was truly a life well lived.
