Robert Kent De Young

Robert (Bob) Kent De Young, age 75, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025. With his faith in God and the assurance of Heaven, Bob accepted his diagnosis with incredible strength and dignity. He spent his remaining days surrounded by family and friends. He was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of many.
Bob spent his early years as a butcher at a Myaard Meats. In 1979, he started work at VanderLaan's Home Improvement, where he remained until his retirement. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He created many lasting friendships through this passion.
Bob is survived by his children, Scott (Tracey) De Young, Bobbie Bruursema, Amanda (Terry) Lubbers, Betsy (Scott) Ponstine, and Jeanne (Ryan) Lenhart; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Jacklyn VanKoevering, Mickey Kershner, Terri Lee De Young, and Bennett De Young; brother-in-law, Dave Glerum; and many extended family and friends.
A memorial service, with Cory Potter officiating, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Cultivate Community Church, located at 4872 136th Avenue, Hamilton. There will be luncheon and a time of gathering immediately following the service. Private burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. at Vander Laan Funeral Home.
