Robert DeArment Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by King Funeral Home and Crematory - Reedsville on Oct. 14, 2025.
Robert Paul DeArment, affectionately known by many as "Smurf, Elf, Whitey, Piney," 77, of Lewistown, passed away surrounded by his family on October 10, 2025. Born on October 19, 1947 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Dorothy E. DeArment and Arthur D. DeArment, Sr. He was a proud 1966 graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School. Bob honorably served his country as a Vietnam Veteran and was a distinguished Purple Heart recipient. Following his service, he dedicated more than 40 years of hard work and loyalty to Standard Steel in Burnham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Linda DeArment, Larry DeArment, and Arthur "Dave" DeArment, Jr. He is survived by the loves of his life- his daughter Crystal Nicole DeArment and her boyfriend John Latchford; his cherished grandsons Taylor Paul DeArment and wife Sierra, and Shane Robert DeArment; and his loyal canine companion, Stella, and CJ. Bob is also survived by the mother of his daughter, former spouse, and dear friend of over 52 years, Janelle E. Stewart. And Siblings: Belva Jean Davis, Gary DeArment, Christina Brought, Brenda Vega, Kim Collanbine, Tammy Schoenfelt, Holly Schaeffer Oh, the years we shared, what a journey it has been- over the 52 years through thick and thin. Through friendship and laughter, and careers that would grow, through grandkids and graduations, with hearts all aglow. There were ups and there were downs, as life often brings, with ER visits, life flights and all kinds of things. Through surgeries mended and veteran meetings too, we faced every season- the old and the new. Through decades of moments, both steady and wild, we walked side by side, with courage and style. A lifetime of stories, of love and of grace- Oh, the paths that we traveled, and the hearts we embraced. Rest in peace, with much love, Jan. He was a member of Yeagertown Fire Co., and could often be seen enjoying breakfast at the former Red's Diner, and Sticky Bun Café in Yeagertown. Bob's daughter and grandsons were his pride and joy. He adored them beyond measure and found his greatest happiness in their love and laughter. His kind heart, sense of humor, and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service in Bob's memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 16, 2025 at King Funeral Home and Crematory, 47 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, with Pastor Paul Carter officiating. There will be a time of visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will follow the service in Juniata Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Rescue Our Furry Friends, in honor of Bob's lifelong love for animals. Many thanks extended to Veteran's Home Care, Lori Selfridge, David McCalips, John Latchford, Sierra DeArment, Trista Rauch, Alivia Shilling, and Sarah Crownover.
