ROBERT “BOBBY” WAYNE DENTON, age 85 of White Pine, TN passed away Saturday October 11, at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 15, 1940 to the late Wayne and Leona “Toni” Sutton Denton. He was an active member and deacon of the Nina Baptist Church and he was retired from TVA as a boilermaker where he was a welder by trade. He was a good and well respected man who was loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and his church family and many other friends. He would do anything for his family, friends and even strangers. He had a big heart, sweet smile, and tried to be there for everyone he knew. He never met a stranger and enjoyed trying to find connections to kinship as he was from a big family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, DeWayne Denton; sister, Deloris Mason; brothers, George Denton, Larry “Bear” Denton and Jerry Denton. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Sarah “Donnie” Strange Denton; daughter, Pon “Ponnie” Jones and her husband, John Jones of White Pine; granddaughters, Sarah Grace and Haley Jones; brothers, Charles (Susan) Denton, Michael Denton, Ricky (Gail) Denton and Steve Denton and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Special thanks to his great caregivers, Cindy, Millie and Samantha for their loving care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025, 7:00pm at the Nina Baptist Church where the family will receive friends 4:00pm to 7:00pm prior to the services at the church. Graveside interment and committal service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2025, 11:30am at Swann’s Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial gifts in memory of Robert be made to the Nina Baptist Church, 641 Hwy. 113, White Pine, TN 37890.
