In Loving Memory of Robert "Robbie" DeRocco, II
With heavy hearts, we share the unexpected passing of Robert "Robbie" DeRocco, II,
on October 4, 2025. Rob was born on December 30, 1968, in Lewiston, Maine, the
beloved son of Robert DeRocco and Verlie Hubbard.
Rob graduated from Lewiston High School in 1987 and went on to attend Job Corps in
Bangor, where he trained in welding. While in Bangor, he began working at Pizza Hut,
quickly rising to become the restaurant manager. His dedication and leadership led him
to manage the Waterville location for 17 years. Later, he moved to Poland, Maine,
where he took some time off before beginning a new chapter with the Maine
Department of Transportation at the Bridgton camp. Rob found great fulfillment in his
work with the DOT, where he was a respected and valued team member for the past
eight years.
Rob had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes, four-
wheeling and drinking Budweiser with his closest friends. Known for his independent
spirit, Rob lived life on his own terms. He had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a
knack for making people laugh. His quick comebacks and playful teasing-often
reminding his friends they were "#1"-will be fondly remembered.
In 2009, Rob became a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New
Gloucester. There, he found a second family-friends who stood by one another and
shared a strong bond of camaraderie.
Rob was predeceased by his parents. He is lovingly remembered by his Stepfather
James Hubbard Jr. and his long-time partner Velma Caudill of Gainsboro, TN, sisters:
Deana (Dee) Rich and her husband Dwayn of Madison, ME; Sandy Fickett and her
husband Mike (Plute) of New Gloucester, ME; and Wendy Martin and her husband Bob
of Mechanic Falls, ME. He also leaves behind his nephew Christopher Noble, Gray, ME
and niece Rebecca Noble, Milton, NH, along with many dear friends who will miss him
deeply.
We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends and community
during this difficult time. We want to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to our
dear friend, Tom Thompson, who was with Rob after his final moments. There are no
words that can truly express the depth of our gratitude for your strength, compassion,
and presence during such a difficult time.
Please join us in celebrating Rob's life on Saturday, October 18th, from 1:00 to 5:00
PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 354 Sabbathday Road, New Gloucester. A light
lunch will be available as we gather to share memories and honor the life of a man who
meant so much to so many.
