Robert James Desmond, 75, Frankfort, died unexpectedly Thursday, January 25, 2024 at University Hospital in Louisville. A native of Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Cornelia Gronberg Desmond. He was a graduate of Sullivan University in Louisville with an associates in computer science. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served honorably, attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Airman's Medal for heroism on June 9, 1970. He was the founder and operator of CRISP Solutions, Inc., a computer programming initiative. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Frankfort and the VFW Post 4075 in Frankfort. He was a writer of poetry and blessed his family regularly with poems specifically written for them individually. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, golfing, gardening and working. He enjoyed joking around and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He had a big heart, filled with love for his family, and he shared that love unconditionally.
In addition to his parents, his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Edith Williams Desmond, preceded him in death in August 2023.
Survivors include one son, Greg Stephens (Jhoni) of Morganton, WV; three daughters, Kelley S. Killen (Sean) of Frankfort, Lorrie St. Pierre of East Holden, ME and Sandra Mills (Kevin) of Finchville; one sister, Cynthia Quinn (Dennis) of Ipswich, MA; seven brothers, Terrance "Terry" Desmond (Brenda), Frances Desmond (Kathy) and Neil Desmond, all of Ipswich, MA, Timothy Desmond of Tampa, FL, Daniel Desmond (Deb) of Seabrook, NH, Matthew Desmond (Terry) of Danvers, MA and Kevin Desmond (Deb Comwell) of Ipswich, MA; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with visitation after 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville.
