I just wanted to send an extremely belated condolence to the family and friends of Bob Diffee.
I knew Bob through our work with Piedmont Airlines back in the 1980's.
More than that, we played a lot of music together through that time.
Matter of fact, he was the impetus for the organizing of the bluegrass band, " Piedmont".
I remember he put an ad in Bluegrass Unlimited that said, " Piedmont- the up-and-coming bluegrass band", which was a takeaway from a current ad for the airline at that time.
It was sad that the group, (mainly due to working for the airline), never came to play any shows.
We had a few practices, though, with Steve Block on bass, Kent Dowell on banjo, Mike Casstevens on mandolin, me on guitar, and Bob on the @Dobro.
I had a practice tape recording of the band, but unfortunately, it's gone.
Bob also let me help on the Josh Graves @Dobro series playing the banjo on the back-up instruction parts.
I know this is too long and too late coming, but a sincere condolence about this fine person. RIP.

I worked with Bob at Braniff and US Air. I remember him as a gentleman of quiet leadership and a smile. I'll hold these memories for a long time.

I was Bob's secretary for two years in the Chief Pilots Office in Baltimore. We remained great friends and I will miss him dearly. Bob was one of the finest human beings I have ever known and I feel a great loss at his passing. Bob had an incredible wit and could see humor in almost any situation. It was an honor to work for him and call him my friend.

He was very proud of his children Robert, Matthew and Amie and loved them so much. He talked about them all the time. I am very sorry for your loss.

Bob really was a great guy. He was one of those guys who could make you smile at any time. We all will miss him but we must remember he is in a better place now. Hopefully, we all will reunite with him one day, no matter if it is tomorrow or 50 years from now. We just have to live or lifes where we never will regret anything. This is what I feel Bob did and Im sure he is still smiling like usual. This is all just a part of God's master plan that we dont understand. I just pray that God will be with Bob's family in this time of sorrow. Bob really was a great man.

Bob performed a great service to the McDermotts and to Arkansas Aviation History in researching the aviation patent file by Dr. Charles McDermott and in constructing a replica of the airoplane. Even though I tried to do so, I do not believe I ever thanked him properly.

I want the Diffee family to know that the McDermotts will be eternally grateful for his accomplishment.

Bob was one of my old college roomies and we had some really wonderful times together. Bob was one of the finest people I have known and we kept up our friendship for many years. I know that he adored his children as he talked about them constantly when we were together. Bob will be missed by everyone he came in contact with because his wit and intelligence touched all of our hearts.

Uncle Ricky taught me alot about life. It is hard to verbalize the impact that this man had on my worldview. His understanding and fragile heart is forever valued, appreciated and deemed as greatness and brilliance. His fragile spirit is, was and will always be .... THE MOST OF IT!!!! Beth Gitchel 3/16/00

Bob will be missed by all of his tennis friends. We appreciated his hard work and enthusiasm on The Little Rock Racquet Club Board of Directors; we admired his artistic talent, especially the candid portraits of his tennis friends.

Bob was a unique person, and we will miss him.

Our prayers and sympathy are extended to all of Bob's family and friends.

Bob was like a brother to me - He was always there when I needed him. Even though miles separated us, we kept in touch and laughed and cried together. He loved his family and told me about their activities endlessly. Robert and Matthew, he was so proud of the fact that you were working on a project together. Amy, he loved you and Cameron very much, and I'm so glad he got to spend time with you recently. I lost a great friend and buddy - I will miss him--coni

I have known "Uncle Ricky" since I was born, and he has always been one of my favorite persons. I will always remember and cherish his humor and spontaneity. We had a running joke, from my childhood until very recently, about who was "the most of it." Several months ago he conceded to me, but now I must come clean. Uncle Ricky: You were, and always will be, the "MOST of IT." I have so many wonderful memories of this significant person in my life.
