Robert "Moon" George Dillin, 91, of Erie, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at his home. Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Erie Christian Church, Erie. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Erie Fire Department and Ambulance Service. Moon was born on February 22, 1933, in Hillsdale, IL, to John R. "Moon" and Elsie V. (Quade) Dillin. He graduated from Erie High School in the Class of 1951, and then went on to serve in the United States Navy. He married Roberta "Bobbie" Kaye Hunter on September 13, 1957, at the Erie United Methodist Church. They spent 56 wonderful years together before her passing on October 29, 2013. He worked as a truck driver before beginning his 42 year career at International Harvester. After retirement he worked with Ron Kuykendall, his friend and brother-in-law at Newton Township for 20 years. Moon was currently serving on the Erie Township Board. He was a member of the Double II Car Club and was a founding member of the County Line Cruisers. He loved his antique cars and keeping them shined up for participating in many car shows. He was a lifelong member of the Erie Christian Church. He was a lifetime, avid Chicago Bears fan. Moon enjoyed fishing, traveling and bus excursions with his wife Bobbie. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Moon is survived by his children Robert J. Dillin of Erie, IL, Jody Dillin of Erie, IL, Jill (Dan) Snyder of Colona, IL, Shelly (Curt) Schroeder of Morrison, IL; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
