Robert G. “Doc” Lindsey, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Born on September 8, 1942, in Plymouth, Indiana, he was the son of Leslie and Venus (Rhoade) Lindsey. He attended Argos High School, graduating with the class of 1960. Robert attended Purdue University to pursue his passion and calling to become a Veterinarian. On August 30,1964, Robert married his beloved wife Barbara Jean (Markus).

Robert served the community of Plymouth and surrounding areas at Plymouth Veterinary Clinic for over 50 years before retiring in 2020.

Fun-loving and a man that was always good for a joke are just some of the characteristics that describe him. His pursuit of excellence in becoming a master at his profession was always his goal. Family, Purdue and the Chicago Cubs/Bears were his passions. Most importantly, his children remember a father who taught them how to be wonderful providers for their families and their communities.

Robert was a faithful Purdue Boilermaker. He was a member of the John Purdue Club and the Marshall County Alumni Association. Robert was a season ticket holder to both Purdue football and men’s basketball.

He enjoyed traveling, visiting many of our nation’s national parks with his family, and big-game hunting around the world. He also loved his regular breakfasts and golf games with close friends and family.

Robert was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Safari Club International.

He is survived by his sons: Rodney (Sarah) Lindsey of Valparaiso; Mark (Holly) Lindsey of Bremen; and Kurt Lindsey of New York, NY; grandchildren: Corynne (Zack) Renner, Camden (Renata Cunningham), Madison, Riley (Sean Bardol) and Grace Lindsey; great-grandchildren: Eden and Emmett Renner; sister Sandra Lindsey; and his faithful cat Bombay.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara and sister Doris Shoemaker.
