Robert Donaldson Obituary
For over 50 years, Robert dedicated his life to the roofing industry as the owner of Donaldson's Roofing. His tireless work ethic and commitment to quality earned him respect and admiration from both clients and colleagues. Known for his charm and having the gift of gab, Robert had an unparalleled knack for connecting with others, making friends wherever he went.
Robert cherished family life, and he is survived by his sons, Boyd Donaldson (Kimberly) and Kim Donaldson, who will carry forward his legacy with love. He was a proud grandfather to Karly (Ian), Jackson, Julie, Jill, and Griffin, imparting wisdom and warmth to each of them. His dear sister, Sandra Dickerson (David), will remember him fondly as well. Also surviving are niece Pam Dickerson (Kenneth); nephew David J. Dickerson; great-nieces Danielle (Michael) Hamby, Katie Hamby, Haisley Dickerson; great-great nieces Kinley Burtch, Dennie Hamby, Gypsy Hamby; great-nephew Westin Dickerson; and great-great nephew Hudson Hamby.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert had a multitude of hobbies and interests. He loved socializing and enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns. His fondness for attending Oktoberfest in Helen, Ga., brought him much joy, as did sitting on his porch, soaking in the ambiance of his surroundings. Robert also leaves behind cherished memories of his loving wife, Rebecca Donaldson and great-granddaughter, Blair, who has preceded him in death, and a legacy built on the bonds of family and friendship.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Aug. 24, 2024, from noon to 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service starting at 1 p.m., at Appalachian Funeral Services, located at 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC, 28779.
Robert Henry Donaldson Jr. will be remembered not only for his contributions to his profession but also for the vibrant relationships he fostered and the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Robert's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
