Robert Wayne Donelson

Robert Wayne Donelson, 86, of Lafayette, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at St. Anthony Healthcare, Lafayette.
He was born November 11, 1938, in Stockwell, to the late Earl and LaVerne Donelson. He married Janet Phillips in Delphi, and she survives. He was a graduate of Lauramie High School and worked as a Pipe Fitter for Local #240 until his retirement. He also worked seven years as a mechanic at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
He was a member of Stockwell United Methodist Church, Dayton F&AM Lodge #103, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Robert loved traveling all over the United States with Janet and the couple spent their winters in FL. He also enjoyed all the various forms of car racing and spent a lot of time at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he took pictures for many years. He had a passion for reading, photography, as well as collecting cameras.
Along with his wife, Janet, he is survived by 3 nieces, Lynne Stone, Nancy Sheridan, and Cathy Donelson; and a nephew, Michael Donelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and LaVerne Donelson and a brother, John Earl Donelson.
Visitation will be from 5:30 until time of service at 6:30 pm, Friday, October 24, 2025, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Interment will be private at IOOF Cemetery Pittsburg.
