Robert Henry Douglas, Jr., 50, Mt. Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Garfield, KY. A native of Louisville, he was the son of the late Sharon Bargo Ward and Robert Henry Douglas, Sr. He was a masonry worker by profession. Starting as a hod carrier for others, he eventually owned his business and had the opportunity to work on the new winner's circle at Churchill Downs. In his leisure time, he enjoyed listening to music and baseball games. He also liked to try to repair any mechanical item. He loved animals. As a youngster, he had a dog named "Girl" who accompanied him everywhere, and there was usually a rodent of some type and cats nearby. He has owned chinchillas, lizards, snakes, dogs and cats. Robert was just a big kid at heart who enjoyed video games and being around his family. He was Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents, one brother, Larry Ward, Jr., and the father who raised him, Larry Ward, Sr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Mason Douglas of Louisville; two sisters, Laura Ward of Shelbyville and Lois Kemp (Willie) of Louisville and four nieces and nephews, Leslie Glasser, Sara Kemp, Jaidyn Ploof and Eli Ward.
Cremation was selected. The family will observe a private celebration of his life.
Arrangements were entrusted to Webb Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.webbfuneralhome.com.
