Passed away on June 29, 2025. He was born in Elmira on September 2, 1930, son of the late, Edward Drake and Florence Hennessey Drake. He was predeceased by his sisters and brothers, Margaret Drake, Mary Hintz, Edward Drake Jr. and Frank Drake. Bob is survived by his loving family, to include Rose Marie Wildrick Drake, his wife of 72 years. They shared a unique bond that was truly extraordinary. As a couple, they have been an inspiration to all, finding great happiness and appreciation in time spent together. Also surviving, daughter, Ann Malcom of Parker, Colorado; son, Dan (Rose) Drake, Elmira; son, Joseph (Amanda) Drake, Manlius; along with nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Bob attended St. Peter and Paul's school in Elmira. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving his country from 1948-1952. Returning from military service, he married Rose Marie Wildrick. Bob worked for the Elmira City School District for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Bob was very involved in his children and grandchildren's activities, supporting their interest in scouting, hunting, sports and music. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to his family, guiding them with fortitude, patience and unequivocal love. He was a devout and active communicant of St. Mary's Church, Elmira. Bob volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital for many years in retirement. He so enjoyed being a member of the Willow Creek Golf Club and the wonderful camaraderie that was associated with it. Bob and Rose shared numerous travel adventures that were a a wonderful highlight creating cherished memories together over the years, especially to his beloved Ireland. He was never more relaxed than when he spent time each summer on the coast of Maine. Most significantly his incredible love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends will never be forgotten. Bob always was there for whoever was in need, with caring and helping hands. His family always came first. He truly led by example and was an inspiration to those who were lucky enough to have known him. His kindness and wonderful sense of humor, endless sharing of lifesavers and his proud Irish heritage will forever live on with us all in our hearts. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Wednesday July 2, 2025 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St. Elmira, NY 14904 on Thursday at 10 a.m. with burial in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery. Memorial donations my be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
