CEDAR – Robert Joseph Drow, 81, of Cedar, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born April 5, 1942 in Traverse City the son of Wallace and Harriett (Plamondon) Drow. On September 9, 1961 at St. Mary's Church of Lake Leelanau he married Phyllis (Belanger) Drow, who survives.
Bob graduated from St. Mary's High School with the Class of 1960. Afterwards he served his nation in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was a life-long member of the VFW Post 7731 Little Finger Post of Lake Leelanau and the American Legion in Arizona.
He was proficient in many trades and earned his master's certificates in mechanical, plumbing, heating, welding, building construction and for decades ran Drow Mechanical Services. Bob was a lover of antique cars and was a car collector. Not only collecting them, but fixing them up and selling them; Bob's favorite was his 57 Chevy. He also collected coins, loved anything Elvis and enjoyed going to the casino and would travel to gun shows and flea markets.
Bob and Phyllis enjoyed wintering in Green Valley Arizona for the past 25 years with a few years spent in Florida. Bob's daughters remember dad not wanting a cat in the early days. Bob, in his later years, got his fur baby, Sophie, and lovingly doted on his cat.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Phyllis; two daughters, Tina (Ron) Rokos, Cheryl (Steve) Drzewiecki; his siblings, Jean Grant, Oscar (Elder) Drow, Elizabeth (Duane) Bardenhagen, Shirley (Dave) Miller, Daniel (Corinne) Drow, Thomas (Delores) Drow, Rose (Wencil) Korson, Greg (Barb) Drow, Michael (Julie) Drow, Mary (Ken) Lautner; four grandchildren, Brittney and Shelby Rokos, Carley Gutzka, Cameron Drzewiecki, five great grandchildren, Devin, Colton, Eliana, Brody and Breckyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, James Grant.
A celebration of Bob's life will be announced in the spring.
