Robert (R.J.) Duckwall, 81, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on January 24, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1942, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Lucile Ash Duckwall.
R.J. grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1959. He met the love of his life, Marilyn Carmichael, and they were married June 3, 1960, at First Church of the Nazarene in Stillwater. As a young man R.J. worked for the family business, Duckwall Furniture & Appliances and later began his own company, Duckwall Floor Covering. In the spring of 1976, the family moved to Ponca City where he worked for Floorcraft, AT&T, and then retired from Conoco. R.J. was a member of St Luke’s Nazarene Church in which he and Marilyn were involved in many ministries. After R.J. retired, they enjoyed travelling. They had many adventures together, including Alaska and Hawaii. They also went on extended trips in their motor home. R.J. enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and stoking up his smoker to cook for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Duckwall, his parents Ralph & Lucile Duckwall, and his brother Donald Duckwall. He is survived by his sons Robert (Bob) Duckwall and wife Debby of Ponca City, OK, and Ron Duckwall and wife Ginger of Argyle, TX; by his grandchildren Joshua (Josh) Duckwall of Ponca City, Rebekah (Becky) Harman and husband, Tyler of Los Angeles, CA, Grant Duckwall and wife Hannah of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer (Jen) Willard and husband, Bryan of Ellicott City, MD, and Mitch Duckwall of Argyle, TX; and by his great grandchildren Cooper Harman, Mia Willard, and James Duckwall.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the St. Luke’s Nazarene Church with Pastor David Frees, Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7 :00 p.m. Services will be livestreamed thru R.J. Duckwall's page at www.gracememorialchapel.net
