The Dunn Family of Palmer Springs, Virginia is sad to announce their patriarch, Robert "Bobby" Dunn passed away Tuesday October 7, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Bobby was born July 25, 1944 to Murphy & Lois Dunn in Boydton, Virginia in a house on Jefferson Street that still stands today. He graduated from Bluestone High School in 1962 and became a Marine. He proudly served his country for 4 years active and a lifetime of being a Marine. He said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine". His call to serve his country continued with 4 years in the Air Nation Guard. That pull to serve continued with the Marine Corps League Lake Country Detachment 1085 where for many years he worked tirelessly with Toys for Tots. Upon completion of his active duty, he started a career in the textile industry rising from mechanic, to supervisor, to plant manager, and he retired as Vice President of Manufacturing. After his retirement from textiles, he started a second career for the Virginia Department of Corrections. There he retired again as the warehouse coordinator.

Bobby is also well known as being co-owner of Lucky's Dairy Bar and Grill for 24 years. There he made many a burger and sundae. A person in the community said he was "DA Man" because he had the ice cream.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Brenda. Also his daughter Mary Lou Cheek Burroughs, her husband Mike and grandson Caleb; his son Matt Dunn and granddaughter Lane; his son Robbie Dunn, granddaughter Zoe Dunn and grandson Bobby Dunn. His sisters Carol Pendergrass, Sandra Smith & Marion Dunn. He was preceded by his brother Allen Dunn and Matt's late wife Leigh Anne Dunn.

Arrangements are still being organized at this time. Please check back with Wood Funeral Service for details.

Also in lieu of flowers, the family asks to make a donation to the Marine Corps League Lake Country Detachment 1085 in his honor.
