Robert Durand Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniel T Morrill Funeral Home - Southbridge on Dec. 30, 2025.
Holland: Robert Thomas Durand, 93, died on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 68 years, Marie "Velma" (Parent) Durand, and their son Neil. Bob was born on January 2, 1932, in Warren, MA, the son of Percy and Susan (Covell) Durand. He was predeceased by brothers Allen, Bertram, Earl, Merton "Eddie", and Donald, and sisters Dorothy Fleury, Marjorie Emery, and Jean Kilgore.

Bob was in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an engineer at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford for more than 36 years. Bob enjoyed the large Parent, Dubois, and Durand families, and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. He took pleasure in genealogy, woodworking, playing golf, and watching football; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was exceedingly handy and could build, repair, troubleshoot, and tinker with anything.

A funeral Mass for Bob will be held at St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield at a later date. There are no calling hours. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery in Warren will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield, MA, or to charities seeking a cure for dementia and serving families facing the challenges of dementia.

Dear Velma and Neil,
As saddened as we are, the joy is knowing that Bobby lived and died as he wanted...peacefully. He was always a peacemaker in volatile situations.
Knowing that Bob is spending his 94th Birthday with my son Mark and nephew Eric is heartwarming. He was a good role model.
Love and Blessings,
(Aunt) Fran
