Robert E. ‘Eddie’ Applegate, age 55, of Sabina, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Born on a U.S. Army base in Frankfurt, Germany on June 26, 1969, he was the son of Gale and Linda M. (Chenoweth) Applegate.
Eddie was a fiercely loyal friend and a dedicated family man. Known for his orneriness and love for laughter with those he cared about, he often jokingly called himself a “Bad Apple.” The number 626, his birthdate, held special significance for him. A self-taught mechanic with incredible hands-on skills, Eddie was the person family and friends turned to for anything that needed fixing or building. He was always willing to lend a hand. His ability to find any tool amidst what appeared to be chaos while working on cars never ceased to impress. Eddie had a love for tattoos, a passion evident to anyone who knew him, with some even placed by his daughter, including her name tattooed over his heart. His true passion was cars, from working on them to attending car shows, with a particular fondness for Chevrolets and Volkswagens. When he wasn’t outside tinkering with his dogs by his side, he enjoyed watching TV and, most of all, spending time with his daughter and granddaughter, of whom he was incredibly proud and spoke about often.
Eddie is survived by his daughter and her husband, Dani and Phillip Ewing, his beloved granddaughter, Charlotte, and his life companion, Larrena Applegate-Tolle.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Tammy Jones.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at a later date.
