Robert Alfred Edison
September 18, 1948 - October 2, 2025
Robert, affectionately known as Allegheny, was born September 18, 1948 to John A. Edison and Eva Coes Edison (both deceased). He was raised with his older sister, Lillie Edison Dean (deceased) and his cousin, Sylvia Crawford Struthers (Detroit, Michigan) by their Grandparents William and Lillie Martin Coes (both deceased) in
Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Beechwood Elementary School, Prospect Middle School, and South Hills High School. He attended Wilberforce University where he met his wife, Rosita Ecung Edison. They have been together for 55 years and married for 49 years. From this union, they have two sons. The first son is Robert A. Edison II, wife Dr. Bianca Gwinn Edison and their children, Elyse E. Edison and Robert A. Edison Ill. Their second son is Ramon Edison, ex-wife Latasha Carlisie Edison and their children, Ramon A. Edison II and Eva R. Edison. Upon graduating from college, he was employed by the National Labor Relations Board in Cincinnati Ohio. In 1976, he transferred to the Pittsburgh office to take care of his grandmother and retired after 43 years serving as EEO Counselor, College Recruiter, and a member of the Black History Month Committee. Robert became a member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, Incorporated in 1970 and remained in good standing and a life member until his death. He held the positions as President, Sgt. At Arms, Chair-Golf committee, Mardi Gras Formal committee member, Boat Ride committee member, as well as served on the Christmas and Thanksgiving Committees. He was a Life member of Wilberforce University Alumni Association, as well as member of the Frogs Club of Pittsburgh, Steel on Ice Ski Club (Founding Member), Tri-Boro Golf Club, the Executive Golf Club, and Gentlemen's Golf Association.
He leaves to cherish his memory his family: wife Rosita, son Robert II, (Dr. Bianca Gwinn Edison), granddaughter Elyse, grandson Robert Ill, son Ramon, (ex-wife Latasha Carlisle), grandson Ramon II, and granddaughter Eva. He also leaves behind his sisters Kimberly, Deborah, and Janet, brothers John and Frank, and other family members to include Michelle Dean, Eric Dean (children Alisa, Jessica, and Isaiah), Sylvia Struthers (Kenneth), Kenneth II Struthers (Sharon), Sabria Struthers Jones (Keenan), Kenneth Ill (Ariel), Kerwin Struthers, Sherry Struthers Turner (deceased) (Darryl), and Sheridan Douglas Lewis (Deion), Victoria Martin Dowdy, Leon Dowdy (Barb deceased) Nichelle Dowdy, Sarah Dowdy, Cory Dowdy, Lloyd Calhoun (Rebecca), Brandy Calhoun, Clinton Calhoun, Loren Calhoun, Lori Calhoun, Gloria Calhoun Lewis (Patrick), Brittany Calhoun (Shun McCall), Alfred McCall, Katie E.
