ROBERT EDNEY

EDNEY--Robert Victor. On January 28, 2026, Robert Victor Edney died peacefully at home after a hard-fought battle with ALS and FTD. He was born in Virginia to the late Minnie B. Clark and Leon Russell Edney on September 4, 1950. Rob was raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts. He attended Boston Latin School and went on to study at Emerson College, graduating summa cum laude in 1976 with a degree in Communications. In 1978, he earned both an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and an M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. After graduating, Rob went on to have a long and illustrious career in media and advertising sales, including at CBS, and A+E Television Networks. In addition to his professional life, Rob was a lifelong learner with a passion for technology. An avid reader, he also served as the self-appointed family historian, proudly researching and preserving family genealogy. Rob was an all-around athlete, excelling in everything from tennis to speed skating and snowboarding. Rob called music "the language of the human spirit". He loved to dance, and friends and family will remember his free- spirited moves. Rob loved traveling throughout the world with his family. He is survived by his wife, Paula Randolph, MD; his children, Kristen and Robby; siblings Bonnie Jamison-Berry and Gerald Clark. He will be missed and lovingly remembered for his intellect, laughter and appreciation for life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in honor of Robert V. Edney to the Eleanor & Lou Gehrig ALS Center at Columbia University Medical Center or the ALS Association.
