Robert (Bob) Charles Edwards, 75 of Colchester, passed away at the Elderwood at Burlington on March 9th, 2026. He was born in New Haven, CT, to James and Mary (née Regan) Edwards on June 18th, 1950.
Bob graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, OH in 1968 and then went on to Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where he graduated with a degree in Comparative Religion in 1972. He continued his studies at Bryn Mawr College, earning his MA in 1981 in Clinical Psychology and an additional endorsement as a School licensed psychologist. Bob resided most of his adult life in Havertown, PA and worked for most of his career as the Director of Outpatient Mental Health at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Philadelphia.
Growing up, Bob developed a love for swimming and music, spending time playing the trumpet and was first chair in his high school band. His connection to the water stayed with him throughout his life; while in graduate school he even worked as a lifeguard. Bob always loved being near the water, especially sailing on the Chesapeake, where he could relax, enjoy the breeze, and read a good book; he was an avid reader of history books and suspense novels. Throughout his life he has also been a devoted dog lover, with dogs (Penfold, Merlin, Arwin, and many more from childhood) always being an important part of his home and daily routine.
Following college football and basketball was another big part of his life. Every spring he looked forward to watching the excitement of March Madness, following the games closely and enjoying the unpredictability of the tournament. When not watching sports, he could be found outside grilling or on a mission to find the best crab cakes around.
Robert is survived by his daughters Charlotte Edwards, and Molly Edwards (Sean MacArdle), his grandchildren, Rowan Honour (21), Galen Seamus (18), Ewan Rhys (15), and Torin Fergus (12). He is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Edwards, sisters Pam (Alan) Seabright, and Amy (Jeff) Clark as well as his niece and nephews.
Bob is predeceased by his loving parents, Mary and James Edwads.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
