Robert J. Eppinger

Robert J. Eppinger passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 21, 2022. He was 62 years old. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Karen (nee Knott); his loving son, Rob; brothers, Michael (Michelle), and Stephen; sister-in-law, Marlene Stocks; brother-in-law, Karl Knott (Carol); and nieces and nephews, Tim Knott, Kathryn Rudolf (Shane), Chris Knott, Dan Knott, Stephen Eppinger, Destiny Eppinger, Amber Eppinger, and Michael Eppinger. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Ann and Robert Eppinger.
Born on August 20, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Bob was the first of three sons of the late Robert and Mary Ann Eppinger. He graduated from Central High School in 1978, Temple University in 1982 and then went on to work for the City of Philadelphia Water Department for over 30 years.
Bob was a Mason belonging to the Hermann-Humboldt Lodge 125 and the Valley of Allentown Scottish Rite; in addition, he was a member of the Lu Lu Shriners. Over the years Bob was very active in the Philadelphia German community. This included numerous years as Second Vice Chairman of the Steuben Day Observance Association of Philadelphia & Vicinity as well as being Director of the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein.
For those who knew Bob well can attest that his greatest passion and legacy was his love of Schuhplattler (German Folk) dancing. His first dance club was the United German Hungarians and then later the GTV Almrausch. It is with the GTV Almrausch that he danced the majority of his life. In that time he held numerous positions: 2.Vorplattler, Kinder Vorplattler and Recording Secretary. The position that Bob took most pride in was as President, which he still held at the time of his passing. His enthusiasm and sheer joy of dancing came through in every one of his performances. Bob's humor, dedication and natural ability to entertain will be greatly missed not only by his home club, but also by Gauverband Nordamerika.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob's Life Celebration on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A second viewing will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM followed by a funeral service at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14100 Worthington Road, Philadelphia, PA 19116. Bob will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Huntingdon Valley.
