I´m not certain if these messages are still forwarded to Bob´s family, I hope this will make its way. I´m a year and a bit more away from my idea of inviting Bob to lunch. I called on Bob for many years beginning with his first location, South Ridge.
As a much younger man he gave me a consistent dose of criticism. It was a Saturday morning and I answered my home phone. Bob on the other end was asking how I could let his store run out of a wine, no longer sold, Silver Satin. I wasn´t aware it was out of stock so no excuses were offered by me. Well I need this fixed was Bob´s response. Upon ending our call I called my company´s office and the owner answered. Upon relaying the issue the owner said, "John it´s a Saturday ", he told me he would get it ready. I drove a half hour north to pick up two cases of Silver Satin, the n over a half hour back to South Ridge. I placed the two cases onto the shelf, as Bob was approaching. Bob looked at me and said, John the store opens at 8:00! It was after ten at the time. We went into his office and had a heart to heart. I don´t think anyone else made as much of an imprint on my career as Bob.

I was talking to another person that worked with me as I was driving home. We began talking about Bob. We laughed heartily at the exchanges we had with Bob over the years. I told my friend I was going to invite Bob for lunch for the three of us to get together. I´m sorry and sad I didn´t think of it sooner. To a good man!
Thanks,
