Robert L. Fehl

Robert "Bob" Louis Fehl, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Born March 10, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Mary Agnes (Weber) and Frederick Fehl, he is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Downey) Fehl of Carver, MA and the extensive Downey family; daughters Lisa J. Fehl of South Portland, ME and Joyce D. Fehl of Bath, ME, and granddaughter Annika R. Schmitt of Portland, ME; his brother Alfred (Jane) Fehl of Erie, PA and sister Lorraine (d. Herb) Lutton of No. Olmsted, OH; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob served four years in the U.S. Air Force at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, where he met his first wife Jean Marie (Gyllenberg, deceased 2004, mother of Lisa and Joyce), and graduated from East Coast Aero Technical School at Hanscom Field, Lexington, MA in 1963.
He began his career as an aircraft mechanic with Pan Am in New York, and retired after working 30 years with Trans World Airlines at Logan Airport in Boston. Bob was a lifetime fan of Pittsburgh and Boston sports teams; loved fishing and hunting; attending stock car races, and became an avid golfer in his 40s -- enjoying post-retirement work as a groundskeeper at Pine Oaks Golf Course in South Easton, MA, and loved the 10 years he drove kids to school and sporting events for Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School.
He kept a large and meticulous vegetable garden; enjoyed travel throughout the country and internationally; and special seasonal memories in Naples, FL and Newfound Lake in Hebron, NH with Phyllis and the Downey family.
He was an active volunteer at the former Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Brockton, MA and the former St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Whitman, MA, where he helped keep the building and grounds. If you knew Bob, you know he could repair or build anything; helped everyone; and appreciated the simple joy of cooking and sharing a fresh, slow meal with family and friends any day.
Visiting hours are Thursday, May 2 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington Street (Route 138), Easton, MA 02375. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, May 3 at Kane Funeral Home. Interment to follow at South Easton Cemetery, 473 Washington Street Easton, MA 02356
