Gloria Ann Spicer

Gloria A. (Fitzgerald) Spicer, 92, of Brockton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Heights Crossing Assisted Living, surrounded by the love and care that defined her extraordinary life.The beloved wife of the late John P. Spicer, Gloria brought warmth, grace, and joy to everyone she knew. Born in Washington, DC, to the late Arthur P. Fitzgerald and Bonnie V. (Eutsler) Fitzgerald, she carried the lively spirit of the nation's capital throughout her life.

Gloria's love for connection and community shone through in everything she did. In her youth, she was an elegant ballroom dancer who lit up the dance floor. Her passion for the arts, especially film and theatre, brought her lasting joy. As an administrative assistant at the US Census Bureau in Maryland, she was known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and kindness toward colleagues and the public alike.

Later in life, Gloria seized every opportunity for friendship and fun. She was an active and cherished member of two local Red Hat Society chapters, where her laughter and spirit were infectious. She remained deeply involved with the Richard R. Clark Senior Center in La Plata, Maryland, especially as a member of the 2N1 Club and a front-desk volunteer, spreading joy to everyone she met.

In August 2020, Gloria made Brockton her home at Heights Crossing Assisted Living. Even in this new chapter, she continued to fully engage in life, participating in activities and treasuring every moment spent with family and friends. Her resilience, warmth, and genuine interest in others touched many lives, especially the Holy Cross priests and brothers in North Easton, MA, and the leadership team and parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Sharon, MA.

Gloria leaves a legacy of love through her two dedicated sons: Reverend Kevin P. Spicer, C.S.C., of North Easton, MA, and Brian D. Spicer of Arlington, VA. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Celebration of Life

A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St., Sharon, on Wednesday, February 12th, at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. before the Mass. Everyone is welcome to attend and honor Gloria's memory. Interment will take place later in the spring at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Maryland.
