Robert Fort Obituary
Mr. Fort was born June 11, 1950, in Winston Salem, NC to the late Horace and Mary Fort. Mr. Fort volunteered to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps and was assigned MOS 0311. He was deployed to Vietnam and served in the USMC from July 22, 1968 until honorable discharge May 8, 1974. Following his retirement from SRS, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, writing, and as a draftsman by trade, detailed drawing. He also enjoyed supporting his daughter's passion for horses and seeing his son's success in business and pottery endeavors. For the past 12 years, his joy came from being "Granddaddy" and teaching his grandson how to play chess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Regina Fort and his son, Derek Fort.
Survivors include his daughter, Crystal Driesen (James) and his son, Brian Fort (Michelle); grandson, Chase Storey; sister, Sharon Carroll (Frank); brother, Steve Fort (Kay).
