Troy-Robert G. Fredricks, age 60, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Edward E. Jr. and Eva A. Fredricks.
Robert was born in Troy and attended the Troy School District. He later worked at Eastside Auto and Famous Lunch both in Troy. He was an active member of the Troy Crab Club and the North Troy Eagles.
An outgoing and sociable person, Robert was affectionately known as the "Mayor of Troy" to many of his friends. He enjoyed the gamble of life, often visiting casinos in Atlantic City, playing scratch-off tickets, and watching game shows. Bobby was an avid NASCAR fan. Robert also enjoyed spending time by the ocean and cherishing every moment spent with his family. He often had visits from several longtime friends and support which made Bob very happy. Bobby enjoyed starting and ending his day with his coffee from Dunkin Donuts.
Robert is survived by his fiancée, Diane Algaithy, and will be deeply missed by his siblings: Deb (Lou) Desso, Bill (Barb) Fredricks, Betty (Norm) Lester, Denise (Ron) Dawson, Bonnie (Ted) Ritravato, Cameron (Karen) Fredricks, Art Fredricks (Sandy), Tom Fredricks, and his sister-in-law, Deb Fredricks and brother-in-law Scott Selby. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved feline companions, Mittens and Daddy's Girl.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his twin sister, Mary Theresa, brother, Ed Fredricks, III, and his sister, Carole Ann Selby.
The family would like to thank his longtime love of 25 years, Diane for taking exceptional care of him as well as the Rensselaer County Community Hospice, especially Jake, for the care and concern shown to Bob and the entire family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 33 Elk Street, Suite 201, Albany, NY 12207, or the Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
