Robert G. “Bob” Pelfrey, 67, of Midvale passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Day in his home with his family from lung cancer.

He was the 2nd son of four boys to the late Gene and Rose (Nutter) Pelfrey born in Doylestown, OH. Bob graduated from Chippewa High School in 1975. He had a strong work ethic beginning at the age of 14 as a farm hand, then working at the paper mill, recycling plant, and retiring from Freshmark/Sugardale in 2019 as a Boiler/Refrigeration Operator. He was a certified Stationary Engineer. He took pride in barely missing work and being early, and loved coining the phrase “Being stupid ain’t cheap.”

Bob had enjoyed his travels outside of the states from Brazil to Europe, was a member of the New Philadelphia Church of Christ, loved golfing/bowling with his brother Tim, (Bob was a 6yr member of Tailgunners Bowling League often bowling a 299), riding motorcycles with his wife, working at his computer, and enjoyed animals especially his big tom cat Roscoe.

He is survived by his wife of 24yrs Amber (Wiley), stepson Adam Wiley, stepdaughter Miranda Wiley, brother Timothy (Becky) Pelfrey of Doylestown, Jeff Pelfrey of Doylestown, as well as his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his elder brother David Pelfrey from Tennessee.

A memorial gathering for Bob will be held Monday, December 2, 2024 from 4-7pm in the Linn Hert Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. In keeping with his wishes, cremation care will be provided following his gathering and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Hartshorn Ridge Church of Christ in Monroe County.
