Robert Gadd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 22, 2010.
Robert Lee Gadd, 83, of Elgood Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 25, 1927, in Bertha, he was the son of the late Noah and Beatrice Gore Gadd. Of the Christian faith, Robert was most at peace when he was surrounded by nature and the peaceful quiet of the farm he and his wife, Ennis, built together. In addition to gardening and tending to the many chores of life in the country, one of his favorite pastimes was hunting, where he found contentment amid the woods and wildlife. During his life, he worked many jobs, but his most treasured titles were of husband, daddy and granddaddy. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, including his twin brother, Russell Bee Gadd, of Pipestem. Survivors left to cherish his memory include Robert’s always devoted wife of 61 years, Ennis; three daughters, Connie Gadd Toler and her husband, Doug, of Athens; Deborah Gadd Mitchem and her husband, Danny, of Elgood; and Nancy Gadd Byrd, of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Tammie Toler, of Athens; and Cristi Fry and husband, Jerry, of Elgood; one very special great-grandson, Matthew Gadd Williams, of Elgood; two brothers, four sisters and a host of nieces and nephews spanning several generations. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, at the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road, with Pettry Church of Christ Pastor Jim Stanley officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Courthouse Road.
