Robert S. Gallagher

1926 - 2023

Robert Scott Gallagher, of Cumming, Ga., formerly of Pittsburgh, age 96, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, surrounded by his immediate family members. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline (Jackson) for 70 years, loving father of Robert (Rebecca Harris) Gallagher, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Bonnie (Greg) Ellinger, of Cumming, Ga. He was also loved and adored by his granddaughter, Chelsea (James) Nash, of Huntsville, Ala., and his great-grandson, Lucas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Laura Gallagher, older brother, James, and twin brother, Ralph. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. While mostly introduced as Bob in his later years, he was fondly known as "Shorty" to friends and family throughout his life. He served in the Navy during World War II and was employed by the Union Railroad for 40 years. He was a member of the F& A.M. Lodge No. 613 in Turtle Creek. He was also a Shriner with the Syria Temple and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite. In his younger years, he loved to golf and throughout his life he loved to sing, dance, laugh and "shoot the breeze" with friends, family and anyone he met. He was a "charmer" but with a deep Christian faith and was selfless almost to a fault. Final resting place will be at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. A private family service will be held with military honors at a later date.
