Robert Galvin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Morris-Johnston Funeral Home Inc. on Feb. 5, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Joseph Galvin passed away on February 2, 2026, after facing several health challenges. To those who knew him, he was a Loving Husband, Father, Son, Grampie, Kiki, and of course, "Bob the Bus Driver." No matter what name you called him, he was always ready with a smile and a story that could brighten any room.

Born in Natick, Massachusetts, Bob was the second child of Mildred (Griffin) and Irving Galvin. His family moved often, packing their Nash Rambler with all they owned and setting off for their next adventure. Bob proudly served in the United States Navy as a radioman aboard the USS Riegal AF-58. After his service, he held a variety of jobs-from installing security systems in the Pentagon to working in construction-before returning to his hometown and joining Sears & Roebuck. It was there that he met the love of his life, Maureen (Rossi) Galvin, at a Halloween party in 1965. From that night on, they were inseparable until Maureen's passing in 2025.

Bob was a proud Teamster (Local 182) and drove for Hendries Frozen Foods, where he loved bringing his camera to capture anything that caught his eye. He later drove for Airborne Express, but his true calling emerged when he became a school bus driver for the Town of Southboro. It was during these years that he became known far and wide as "Bob the Bus Driver," a title he wore with pride.

Outside of work, Bob embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tying flies, woodworking, shooting at the Southboro Gun Club, and keeping the family pool in pristine condition. One of his favorite guilty pleasures was picking up a couple of scratch tickets from his "lucky spot," Fitzies.

Bob and Maureen began their life together in a small apartment in Marlboro, MA, eventually settling in Southboro to raise their growing family. They found joy in staying close to home, watching their children and grandchildren grow, and celebrating every milestone together. Bob especially cherished the bond he shared with his son-in-law Justin, a relationship that grew far beyond the title.

Bob is survived by his children: Jeffrey and his wife Kerrie, and their children Rebecca, Trevor, and Olivia of Holden; Jennifer and her husband Justin Pessini, and their son Ethan of Marlboro; and Jeremy and his wife Rebecca, and their son Jaiden of Willimantic. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Toby and Chloe. His family-children, grandchildren, and even the dogs-will dearly miss their Dad, Grampie, Kiki, and simply "Bob."

Visiting hours for Bob will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Anne Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough, MA 01772. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA.
