Robert Gardner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Jan. 5, 2024.
Robert Patrick Gardner went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday January 3, 2024, at the age of 62 years old. He was born on October 21, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Aloysius Patrick Gardner and Barbara Joyce Godwin. He is survived by his daughter Madison Gardner whom he was willing to go on random adventures with. His siblings: Cynthia Pooley, Joyce Teague, Tina Carter, Brenda Arnold and Roger Gardner. He is also survived by Christy and Jose (Joe Joe) Gonzales niece and nephew by marriage and the mother of his daughter Madison, Mary LeBlanc. He considered Susan Wimberly and Adrianna Ramirez, to whom he opened his home and loved them as daughters. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was known by "Pat" to family members. He loved his country, state, family and God above all. He was known for his green thumb, his plants were beautiful, lush and green. He would give the shirt off his back if you needed it, helping several who needed a place to stay. He never let his learning disability get in his way of being a hard worker and provider for his daughter. He would crack jokes like, 'I got a box of rocks in my head," just to get a giggle out of you. He loved 'feel good' family movies and shows. Robert loved his dogs, Daisy, Snoopy and Sophie Doo. We are sure Daisy will be meeting him in heaven. You could find Robert outside enjoying the weather smoking a cigarette and drinking beer while listening to country music and classic rock after work. Robert always made friends where he worked. Robert loved red, but his eyes sparkled when he wore blue. After retiring, he became a homebody and was a neighborhood watch for his friends and neighbors Ralph, Luis, Dave and Shelly. His neighbors would check on him and wave on their way to work. The family would like to express with deepest gratitude to his best friend Dean Tollefson, whom Robert would vacation with to relax, hang out and talk, fish and hunt doves, and then rock hunting with his daughter. Robert "Pat" Gardner will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.

Every Wednesday, Robert would stroll into my church pantry program (Good News Lutheran Church) pushing his walker with his totes. He would sit on his walker beside our soda machine. I am the leader of the pantry program & I was honored to help Robert with a food box & to have known him. My deepest sympathy to you & your family. Peace be with you all

God´s Blessings, Karen Janszen
