Robert Douglas GATLING

Robert Douglas Gatling, 88, of 546 Redondo Road, Youngstown, OH departed this life Sunday, July 6, 2025 at 4:45 p.m. at his residence, following complications from an extended illness. He was born January 27, 1937 in Newport News, VA, the son of Riddel and Blanche Perkins Gatling, residing in the area for 68 years, coming from Virginia. Robert was employed with Steel City Milling for many years as a Truck Driver, before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the St. Peters Baptist Church and the Masonic Wick Lodge #481. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, yard work and watching westerns. He leaves to mourn four daughters, Ms. Yvonne Whipple, Ms. Valarie White and Mrs. Sandra (Kenneth) Overton all of Youngstown and Ms. Darlene Hills of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward Gatling, Charlie Gatling and Thomas Gatling and two sisters, Mrs. Ozilla White and Mrs. Lavinia Davis. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sterling-McCullough Williams Youngstown Funeral Chapel, with Calling Hours from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Belmont Park Cemetery. The family would like to express special thanks to RN Mindy Werner, Caregiver Valarie White, Mercy Health, Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, Southern Care of Hospice, Heritage Manor and Extended Healthcare.
