Robert John Gavagan

Robert John Gavagan, 82, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. Born to James and Eudora (Nason) Gavagan on February 27, 1943, Robert lived a life of faith, dedication, and love. A devoted husband, Robert leaves behind his beloved wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Heck) Gavagan. He was a loving father to his children; Patrick of St. Clair Shores, MI, Kimberly (Kyle) Leopold of Anna, OH, and Kathleen (Jonathon) of Dunedin, FL, and his grandchildren Amber, Autumn, and Adalyn Leopold. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, integrity, and unwavering faith. A devout Catholic, he found strength in his faith, praying the rosary daily. His commitment to his beliefs and values was evident in every aspect of his life. Robert was a skilled mechanical engineer who took great pride in his lifelong career at General Dynamics. He was able to fix just about anything and enjoyed maintaining and flying his airplane at the farm. He also enjoyed taking walks, riding his bicycle, reading, and pushing the grandkids on the swings during visits. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Ave, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081. A Rosary service will take place at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake St, St. Clair Shores, MI 48081. Robert will lie in state at 9:30 AM, with Mass beginning at 10:00 AM. Following the service, a procession will lead to Resurrection Cemetery for a chapel service and final committal. Robert's legacy of faith, love and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
