Robert Brian Gerton was born on May 13, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio. “Bobby,” as we called him, joined the United States Air Force. His enlistment was an experience that shaped his strength, discipline, and calm spirit—qualities that guided him throughout his life.

Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was dependable, easygoing, and always willing to lend a hand. He loved traveling, camping, fishing, golfing, listening to music, and living peacefully. Known for saying “It’ll be alright,” he carried a reassuring presence that brought comfort to everyone around him.

His love was generous and unwavering. His smile, positivity, and steady spirit uplifted many, and everything he did was for the betterment of his family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Vernon Gerton and Pauline Gerton, and his sister, Lottie Allen.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Portia Ryan-Gerton; his siblings Paula (Lonnie) Blackley and Tony (Lisa) Gerton (Lisa); his children Robert Brian (Ivory) Gerton Jr. and Dustin (Venus) Gerton; his stepchildren, Michelle (Rashad) Reynolds, Lanré Ojemuyiwa, Mayowa Ojemuyiwa, and Alex Ojemuyiwa.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, De’Jia, April, Catherine, Dustin, Tyla, Bryana, Dunyla, Fiyori, Ethan, Soleil, and Rain; his great-grandchildren, Amarise, Amara, Amris, Quhalaila, Quhalani, Dahlia, Dahmir, and Dream. He will also be dearly missed by a host of extended family and friends.

Bobby, we will forever cherish your memory. We love you, we miss you, and with each passing day, you will live on in our hearts.
