Robert Charles "Bob" Getz Sr.

Robert Charles "Bob" Getz Sr., age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles "Buster" Getz and Josephine Smok.

Bob proudly served his community in many roles throughout his life. In Illinois, he worked as a jail guard and later as a forest ranger for Cook County. In 1979, he moved to Florida, where he built his own lawn service business before joining Pasco County Public Works. He retired in 2006 after many dedicated years of service.

Bob enjoyed a life filled with simple pleasures. He loved fishing, camping, gambling, and most recently crafting. He was also known for his love of yard sales, always searching for hidden treasures and earning the affectionate nickname "50 Cent Bob." To his family, he was best known as "Papa," a name he cherished deeply. He was adored by his two grandchildren, Shavonne Eder (husband Bryan Eder) and Kayla Glazebrook (husband Michael Glazebrook), and by his great-granddaughter, Elsie Eder.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte Getz; his three children, Dawn Getz, Robert Getz, and Richard Getz (wife Kim Getz), all in New Port Richey; his brother, Charles Getz Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Bajner, and his sister, Theresa Gabrys.

Bob leaves behind countless memories, stories, and a lasting impact on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
