Robert Dale "Bob" Gibson, age 77, of Hillsdale, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Hillsdale Hospital. He was born on July 22, 1947, in Hillsdale, to Frank and Leora (Blair) Gibson. He married Charlene Lehman on September 18, 1971, and she survives.
Bob graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1966 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Bob later became the owner and operator of White's Welding and ran that until he retired. Bob loved his yard and took a lot of pride in the sanctuary he made it into. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting guns with his grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed bowling, and golfing. He was known to his friends as the Cheetah. Bob was a member of the Hillsdale American Legion Post 53.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene; three daughters, Bobbie (Brent) Brown, Billie Gibson, and Jodie (Jeff) Stone; five grandchildren Tyler and Parker Brown, and Madison, David and Brodee Stone; two sisters, Deborah (Ken) Schmidt, Cindy (Chuck) Teller; and a brother-in-law, Doug Keller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Gibson Jr and two sisters, Pat Keller and Sandra Gibson-Stocklin.
A visitation for Bob Gibson will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale. A light lunch will follow at the Hillsdale American Legion from 3:00 - 5:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Hillsdale.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Shriners Hospital, or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
