LIMA -- Robert Eugene Gross Jr., 76 of Lima, passed away January 29, 2026, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born September 17, 1949 in Lima, to Robert Sr. and Louise (Bowers) Gross, who preceded him in death. On June 14, 1969, he married the love of his life, Nancy (Best) Gross, who survives him in Lima.
Bob was a 1967 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. He worked for many years on the grounds of Bath Schools until his retirement from his position as Maintenance Supervisor in 2015. Bob was an avid Notre Dame football fan. He loved spending time outdoors, especially taking care of his yard and observing the wildlife around his home.
Bob had a huge heart. It wasn't uncommon for him to go out of his way to help those around him and he was a mentor and counselor to many. Most of all he loved his family. A family man at heart, he was an avid spectator of his children's and grandchildren's activities and he was always happiest when they were around. Bob will be remembered for his kind, loving spirit and he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his sons, Robert D. (Bonnie) Gross and Ryan L. (Ashley) Gross; grandchildren, Courtney "Curtis" Gross, Alexandra Ksenich, Tyler Gross, and Brayden Gross; great-granddaughter, Maggie Ksenich; brothers, James (Deb) Gross, Rick (Kris) Gross, and Denny (Lisa) Gross; sister, Betty (Joe) Stein; brother-in-law, Ron (Bev) Best, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jean Ann Patton.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
