Robert Steven "Steve" Gunson, 54, of Star, Idaho, passed away at his home on July 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He courageously battled neuroendocrine carcinoma after being diagnosed in April of this year.

Steve was born on November 30, 1970, in Warner Robins, Georgia, to Robert N. and Beverly Gunson. He spent most of his life in Anchorage, Alaska, graduating from Chugiak High School in 1989 and later attending the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Steve built a successful career in dental sales, where he spent over 15 years cultivating strong relationships and earning the trust of his clients. He later transitioned into the aeronautical insurance industry, combining his professional skills with his lifelong passion for aviation while working with Marsh McLennan.

Steve was much more than a son, father, or friend-he was a steady, guiding presence and a source of light in the lives of all who knew him. His warm, infectious smile could brighten any room, and he had an effortless way of making friends wherever he went. As a devoted father, he adored his sons and was endlessly proud of them. His family always came first.

A true adventurer at heart, Steve was a world traveler and passionate in studying his family's history. He was also a skilled pilot who loved flying his Cessna 180 to remote corners of Alaska, Idaho, and Washington, often for camping and fishing trips with friends and family. His zest for life, sense of wonder, and deep love for adventure defined so much of who he was.

Steve's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and in the memories his family and friends will carry with them forever.

He is survived by his parents, Robert N. and Beverly Gunson; his two sons, Cory and Aiden Gunson; and preceded in death by his late son Matthew.
