Robert T. Hannwacker, a devout Christian and a man of profound kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness, passed away at home on December 28, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on December 4, 1951, in
Brooklyn, NY, to the late Andrew Bonaventure and Marie Gertrude (Hundertmark) Hannwacker, Robert's life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and service.
Robert's early years in Brooklyn were filled with the love and guidance of his parents, whose memory he cherished throughout his life. In 1968 he moved to
Queens, NY and in 1992 to
Hopewell Junction, NY. He then moved to Hawaii in 2019 and to
Hazlet, NJ in 2020, where he remained. After his parents passing, he continued to honor their legacy by embodying the virtues they instilled in him. Robert's own family was a source of immense pride and joy. Though he was predeceased by his son, Robert T. Hannwacker Jr., his spirit lives on through his loving children, Christy M. Allison and her husband Scott of Hudson, MA, Diana Silva of
Concord, NC, Christopher Hannwacker of

White Lake, NY. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom for his grandchildren, Jake Allison, Gabriel Lugo, Kate Allison, Christian Lugo, Leah Lugo, Elijah Lugo, and Kaikoa Silva. He also leaves behind his dear sister and brother, Marie Hannwacker, of Hazlet, and Andrew Hannwacker and his wife, Mary Ann of Hazlet.
Robert's professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. He retired after many years of service as a lineman for Verizon, where he was known for his reliability and commitment to excellence. His colleagues remember him as a man who could always be counted on, both on the job and as a friend.
A man of deep faith, Robert attended mass several times a week, finding strength and solace in the rituals and community of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, NJ. His Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and interactions with others. He was a pillar in his church community, always ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.
Beyond his religious devotion, Robert had a passion for life's simple pleasures. He was an avid marksman, enjoying the focus and skill required for target practice. His intellectual curiosity was often satisfied through the challenge of crossword puzzles, and his talent for building things was a source of personal fulfillment and a way for him to help others.
Robert's life was one of purpose and impact. His kind heart and generous spirit touched the lives of many, and his thoughtful nature made him a beloved figure in his community. As we bid farewell to Robert T. Hannwacker, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by faith, love, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
