It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bob Hargis, age 89, on December 12, 2025. He passed while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Macedonia, Iowa, on February 3, 1936, to Alva V. Hargis and Mae Ruth (Johnson) Hargis.
Bob was united in marriage on February 3, 1956 to Jackie Jo Schuler and together they had one child, Cheryl Ann. Jackie preceded him in death on January 20, 2024.
He proudly served his country in the Army Reserve. Bob was a jeweler for 15 years and then was an insurance agent and co-owner of Campbell Insurance. He retired at 55 to pursue his hobbies of car restoration, woodworking, and sculpting.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by sister, Carolyn Schellen; brothers, Paul Hargis and Jim Hargis.
Bob was a beloved father to Cheryl and her husband, Brian; grandfather to Jamie Gum and her husband, Alex; brother to Richard Hargis and sister Barbara Hargis; he was a good friend to many others and is also survived by other extended family members.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2025. Bob will be cremated after the funeral and his remains will be placed in his grave at the Lewis Township Cemetery.
A big part of Bob's life was helping others, especially those in need, so in lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, Care & Share House, or Salem United Methodist Church.
